Aladdin

About The Pantomime

Pantomime enters another dimension at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal

Pantomime at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal will enter another and very exciting dimension this year as television personalities Stephen Mulhern and Gray O’Brien lead the cast, alongside a very unusual 3D co-star, in Aladdin.

Television presenter and entertainer Stephen Mulhern, who fronts Britain’s Got More Talent, Animals Do the Funniest Things, All Star Impression Show, Britain Does the Funniest Things and many other programmes, plays the title role of Aladdin.

Known to millions of television viewers for his role of businessman, and Liam Connor’s love rival Tony Gordon in Coronation Street, Gray O’Brien plays Abanazar who will try to thwart poor Aladdin at every opportunity! Gray first appeared in Coronation Street in 2007 and last year was crowned ‘Villain of the Year’ at the British Soap Awards.

“I’m looking forward to working with Stephen and the rest of the cast and to performing pantomime at the Theatre Royal which has a tremendous reputation for staging a great Christmas show.” says Gray. “This production of Aladdin, complete with the 3D effects, is very exciting and I can’t wait to take on the role of another baddie. Look out Nottingham!” Gray added.

Aladdin has all of the elements of traditional family pantomime but with the added surprise of an array of outstanding and unmissable visual effects, including a 3D Genie! Wearing 3D glasses at points throughout the pantomime, you can see the magical Genie rise from his lamp and move around the auditorium, rub the magic lamp as it hovers right in front of your nose and further 3D wizardry will transform the stage into a 3D cave of riches, where Aladdin finds his fortune. The show also features a wonderful 3D magic carpet ride sequence and other visual surprises.

Aladdin runs at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal from Saturday 4 December 2010 to Sunday 16 January 2011. Tickets can be booked on 0115 989 5555 or online at www.royalcentre-nottingham.co.uk.
